I once had a rabbit, who
I called Manfred
It was nice and playful,
but oh man... did it bite
On one sunny day it was particularly
fierce
Which ended up with him
eating me
This was my first poem
as an English student
It sucks, but bare with
me – practice makes perfect
The beginning makes us expect a Limerick (a form that really lends itself well to 5-minute poem writing), but the expectation is disappointed, without too much coming instead. The insertion of the personal/confessional in the last two lines works well. As we shall soon see, even Shakespeare used that trick!
