Fra Pandolf

A rich duke wanted me to paint his lady
However his actions somehow seemed shady
He really wished for a wife that was stupid
Believing her an easier target for Cupid
Despite himself finding his name so sweet
It never made her swoon at his feet
So the duke decided he wanted her dead
One morning, I've heard, they severed her head
At least that's what I think I've been told
But don't trust the memory of someone who's old

  1. Love how you managed to tell a really sad and morbid story in a really humorous way! Also I like how Fra Pandolf has become an unreliable narrator who don't really know what happened :)

  2. Like Helena, I too love how the original poem has been turned into a fun and dark humoured poem with all the essential things intact despite of its length.

  3. I really enjoyed the curled ending in your last line.

  4. I really like the way handled the assignment! Simple and short jet quite entertaining and fun to read.

  5. It's always interesting to hear the story from Pandolf's angle, and here we get most of the elements, except the final twist that the Duke is about to marry his Next Duchess (whom Pandolf could conceivably also be commissioned to paint!)
The style is simple and fresh with hard-hitting rhymes.
