FERRARA,
ITALY – Al Fonso, also commonly known as 'The Duke of Ferrara' has
this morning been brought into police custody after allegations
claiming the Duke was directly responsible for the murder of his
young wife, formerly referred to as 'The Duchess'.
An
anonymous source met with Mr. Fonso during what he believed to be a
night of another scheduled wedding with a soon-to-be heir of his
former companion's position. The undercover source, in disguise as a
representative of the forthcoming spouse for Mr. Fonso, was during
the meeting taped with a recording-device and thus able to capture
specific details regarding the recently widowed Duke's wife.
"She
thanked men good! but thanked somehow I know not how as if she ranked
my gift of a 900 years-old name with anybody’s gift!”
– Al
Fonso, The Duke of Ferrara (pictured right) concerning alleged jealousy
to his deceased wife.
The
recording of the Duke revealed specific details concerning his
standpoint to his wife. According to the undercover source these
flamboyant expressions the Duke was known for suggests Mr. Fonso had
ill intent towards his deceased wife, the former Duchess, whome he
during this recording also described as to be “too easily
impressed”, having a heart “too soon made glad” and furthermore
claimed that “her looks went everywhere”.
It
must here be noted that during this meeting, the Duke was describing
a painting of the former Duchess (pictured right below) and not
necessarily the Duchess herself.
"She
smiled, no doubt. Whenever I passed her, but [she smiled to anyone,
so] I gave commands [and] then all smiles stopped together... There
she stands as if alive.”
–
Al
Fonso, The Duke of Ferrara, supposedly admitting to involvement of
conspiracing against his former wife.
The
above quote is however what investigators believe is the most
significant proof of the Duke having direct involvement with the
tragic and untimely death of his former wife.
However,
some argue that this quote is not proof of such. While it has
currently not been possible to get a statement from Mr. Fonso
himself, his legal representative have commented by stating the Duke
was merely commenting onto the painting in his art gallery:
“I
find it outrageous that anyone would claim such horrible allegations
against a widower” Says Bill Y. B. Ush concerning the audio
recording “Especially as anyone would know Mr.
Fonso has more respect for women than anyone else.”
While
the case is currently ongoing, Mr. Ush discards the audio recording
as evidence against Mr. Fonso as pure conjecture. As for Mr. Fonso
himself, Mr. Ush informs that he is doing quite well and only wishes
to return to his beloved cats. "They" says Ush in reference to the cats, "eagerly awaits to once
again be grabbed and fondled lovingly by the Duke".
Awesome change in genre. And well executed with appropriate fonts and layout. The narrative of the poem seems to fit right into such a dramatic article.
ReplyDeleteGood job in convincingly remediating the poem's story into crime reportage, and enjoyable to see the added layer of political satire against the BLOTUS. You squeezed in all the story elements of the original and gave some a delightful twist. I particularly enjoyed the marriage broker carrying a wire as an undercover cop in a sting operation. I fear, however, that it will not hold up in court as the confession is not complete!
ReplyDeleteI really like how you changed the poem and narrator of this story into a news article, this is really creative way to solve the assignment.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this piece. The change in genre is genius and the format is well thought out. The fact that you managed to use a picture of Trump in a relevant matter, made the piece fun and with a twist of today. As a side note, this piece also met my high expectations of your creative skills
ReplyDeleteThe change to the different format was brilliant and the text itself mirrored the language of newspaper articles wonderfully. The little reference to Trump and the use of the photo of him was clever and a fun touch. I liked this piece very much!
