What is love?

Author function: Poet

Abstract notion: Love

To love is to live

And to live is to love.

To make special plans just for two

In a world so frightening,

And share a life and make dreams come true.

To love is to be happy

And to share a smile.

To make the little things count

And to make the best of everything

By looking at the good things in life.

To love is to share,

But most importantly

To love is to care.

To show feelings and emotions

And to share love with a special person.

To love is to have a special someone,

Who you can create memories with,

To recall all of the good things

And someone who you can call;

A friend, a partner, a lover.

Reflection:

This poem talks about the definition of love and what it really means to share love with a special someone in life. However, the poem does not contain a lot of rhyme as poems in most cases do, but it follows a structure of 5 verses in each stanza. This is also known as cinquain, which is the definition of a poem, that contains 5 verses in each stanza. However, if I had chosen the function of a different author function, such as a novelist the structure would have been different and not structured like a poem has to be. The story would be more detailed and it would also include more specific information and details about the characters, which would make it easier for the readers to understand who the story is really about.

  1. That's it - now the poem addresses the issue of defining what love is, and exemplifies with concrete examples!
