Black Friday

To-day we have naming of necessities. Yesterday, we had an obstacle course training. And to-morrow morning, we shall have security training. But to-day, we have naming of necessities. The shiny discounted wares begin to attract a ravenous horde. And to-day we have naming of distress signals.

This is your uniform and badge. And this is your walkie-talkie, whose use you will realize when the moment arrives. And this is your segway, but in your case, you will yet have to wait. The alluring wares have been discounted further 10%, the horde approaches, but in their case, they will yet have to wait.

This is the safety escape-hatch, which is always opened if you have a little upper body strength. If it’s stuck, use all your strength with hands and legs, for it is a moment of desperation. The undying hunger of the consumer is felt against the reinforced doors and windows, using all their strength with hands and legs, for it is a moment of desperation.

And this you can see is your club. The purpose of it is self-defence, as you can see. We can swing it rapidly forwards and sideways, for it is Black Friday. And rapidly forwards and sideways The mindless consumers are breaching and assaulting the store: For it is Black Friday.

For it is Black Friday: and perfectly easy if you have a little upper body strength: and your club, your self-defense, your walkie-talkie, and your segway, which you have not yet got; And the bloodthirsty war cries deafens the store and the horde breaching forwards and sideways,
For to-day we have naming of necessities.

  1. Good job extrapolating the war into the shopping mall on Black Friday! The theme works really well with the technical vocabulary of the security guards and the menacing consumers.
Technically, you used the characteristic Reed phrases and the 5-stanza structure with the two voices, and the recap in stanza 5 - so recognition of the original should be ensured...

  2. Haha! Great work! I loved the way you took the war theme and incorporated it into a shopping mall on Black Friday. Security guards vs mad costumers. Brilliant! I think it was a great parody on Reed's poem.
